Seagate’s created 60TB SSD world’s biggest SSD

Seagate has announced a 60TB Solid State Drive, the largest SSD drive yet, Samsung recently released world’s largest SSD which was of 15TB in size but Seagate broke its record. This SSD is only for businesses and released as an addition to Seagate’s date center portfolio. This SSD can hold up to 12,000 DVD movies and even a 400 million photos. Just think How much data it can store inside?.

The drive was created with quick accessibility in mind and it is a flexible architecture which means it will be simple for data centers to grow from 60TB to accommodate 100TB or more data in near future. I am saying this because in a period of less than one month SSD grown up from 15TB to 60TB.

HDD Making Company

The 60TB SAS SSD is only available for demonstration, and official make will be released in 2017. Unfortunately, we don’t yet know the exact date and how the drive will look like.

We don't have any details on performance or longevity either, but generally drives of this size eschew the former in favour of the latter. We do have a figure on power consumption: 1W per terabyte. Other enterprise SSDs tend to sit at around 2W-per-TB at idle.
